I recently bought 5 clown loaches. They all have ick. The ick appears to be advanced, and they are covered in white spots. These fish are also seem lethargic and are swimming in an odd manner (it's almost like they are trying to swim with their pectoral fins insdead of there caudal fins). I introduced them yesterday, and ancidentally medicated the regular dose with cure-ick instead of reducing the dosage by half on that same day.

What do I do from this point on?? I do not have a quarintine tank. I could increase the temp of the water, but all I am equiped with is a 10 year old bottle of cure-ick (i checked for white precipitate, there is none)

Help

you need to perform a water change, and keep the temp up, add a lot of aeration. i once bought 5 clown loaches, two of which had whitespot (ick) and I made a mistake by treating them THREE times with eSHa (which is safe for clown loaches) but it was too much for tehm to take and one by one, after the spots dissappeared they began to get weak and stop eating etc. don't medicate with anything. run carbon through your tank and just use the heat and if necessary the salt. how covered up are they? are we talking about a few spots or spots everywhere? if they are everywhere, take them back to the shop.

Also forgot to say that it depends on how strong your fish are, and if they had ick before you got them, i would not treat with protozin as this can have a bad effect on weak fish. i got a pictus catfish ages ago who came with ich, (just one spot) which i didn't see and i used the protozin at half strength, but it killed him. yours seem to already be acting weak so don't use meds if you want to save them. are they in your main tank?
