Hey, guys, I just got a chinese water dragon not even a week ago and it seems to have developed this thing with its eye. Rex has been eating but I am still worried about his eye. Anyway, here are pictures.

looks like some sort of conjunctivitis. what type of UVB light are you using..if asny and how close/far away from the WD is it?

might want to take the little guy to a vet..

I would see a vet asap, theres something you can buy to clean the eyes but im not fimiliar with the name, most cwd when you buy them will come with something wrong with them due to being wild caught and bad housing at the pet stores try to ask at
reptic zone.com
in the water dragon questions they will help pretty quick

Just saw your post and I have to say that your dragon much likely has stomatitis a potencial life treatning situacion:nilly:derived from the bad condicions this lizards face when shipped. See that withish thing in the corner of its mouth? Thats pus derived from this infection wich would also explain the eye thing (my rescued female leo had just that when arrived, anything that afects the mouth will also afect eyes as well)
You got to remove that pus deposit and sheck inside its mouth for more, they will apear as white-yellowish deposits stuck to your lizard´s gums and mouth top. Use a coton swab moist with a oral amptisetic(for human use) to do that. Now Im also shure your lizard may have some pus inside its eye. Your going to do the same thing using a coton swab this time with turtle´s eye solucion (buy at pet shops) to clear that out. Also its very likely your lizard has vitamin deficiencys. Get zoomeds reptivite and mix with soft food like banana. This is only the start. You got also to take your lizard to a exotic vet as antibiotic will be needed

I have found that these types of infections on water dragons are from the conditions shipped in during transport from area of collection as Coura stated. See a vet for some anitbacterial drops for the eyes. I would like to know what the temps and humidity are in that enclosure, they could also be a contributing factor, dont be like other folks and dump the animal... its a recoverable infection.

Hey,
okay. The temperature is around 86 degrees and the humidity is at 65 percent currently. I am not sure but that is what the pet store guy said to keep it around. Also, Rex is going to the vet in an hour for some antibacterial and I have already swabbed the crud form around his mouth and eyes. Now, I need some bananas and we will see if he gets better. I hope so.

Ok the temps are way too low...the humidity is also a bit low for them. I would up the basking area to be 115-120 trust me they will use it. The humidity needs to be at around 80%. Do you have a screen top for the enclosure/tank? If so cover it, 3/4 of the way to retain humidity. This infection with the combination of parasites it most likely has internally being its a WC animal is going to weaken the immune system significantly. Good luck.

allright. Will do. Thanks a bunch and I hope to have some good news to report in a bit.
