Hi guys I been reading the stickys and think I know what it may be. But it's been 4 days now and he is still having trouble keeping his back end down . Sometimes he just hangs in water looks dead ..
Water as always been good as I keep freshwater rays I have moved the birchi out of the ray tank incase the rays sence he's in trouble and eat him ..
He's 12 inch eats sinking pellets and prawn muscles .
Any help as we add this guy 6 years now and don't wanna lose him/her

I've never heard of swim bladder disease in polys, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. I have had a few fish get swim bladder disease and I have treated it by simply raising the temperature and adding some salt. Slowly increase the temp to 86 or so. Worth a shot

Thanks for the bump .
He's still upside down and can't keep his back end down its been over a week now . Just wish I new how to help him/her as it can only be a matter of time now

Swim bladder disorder is quite hard to cure as it's a internal disease. It's gonna take more then just salt and raise temp to cure it. Even cured it's usually prone to come back in the future. Somewhat like bloat. U can look up on cures for it in the Freshwater health & disease stickies section. Swim bladder disorder happened to 2 of my Tigrinus catfishes before. Both diet were on frozen market shrimp stuffed with massivores. I've noticed it was a coincidence that both went down from the same disease and diet. I assumed the frozen shrimp might have something to do with it, maybe frozen seafood in general. Anyhow GL with him. Hope he makes it.

1. lower the water level till he lays plain in the tank. That way he can swim and eat from the ground. 2. Dont rais temps in that situation, because it causes more stress.

i heard someone was able to massage the air out

>>))bichirs))K

There is!
Just massage it's stomach downwards to the tail and soon it will breath out some trapped air.
Heard someone tried this method before and it works though!
Good luck mate! :)
