sick discus help

i recently bought a small discus for my 20gal but after a week his eyes got a clear film around them and his fins seem to give that same film off ive checked my water and its fine any ideas how to get him better please help

Check your nitrate levels.

also bump the temp up into the mid-90s if you can. A lot of ailments can be cured by the high temp, and the discus love it. If there's other fish in there you may have to move them because not all of them can take that high a temp.

One won't do very well by himself.

Salt wont do anything, and temps above 90 won't really help...........check nitrates, and get a bigger tank and more discus, one in a 20 gallon will not do well.

Do a big water change, add salt (5-6 tablespoons/10 gallons). See how he does in a few days. If no improvement, then post some pictures up so we can get a better idea of what it is.

BUT, once he is doing better you will need to get more discus since they are schooling fish. 1 will not do very well by itself. I recommend no less than 4. And yes, a bigger tank is most definetly necessary if you are wanting to stick with discus.

I've read recently that a new strain of discus plague seems to be appearing again. I'd hazard a guess that this fish had it.
