for the past week my fire eel hasn't eaten very well. he would go close to the food try to eat it but could quite get it into his mouth. i had recently upgraded so i thought he was still getting used to the new tank. as time went on he started to get a fungus that looked like ich but in patches, not ich just similar. i also saw it on convict cichlids and used quick cure and it went away on them but not on the eel. now the fire eel is very skinny and dying. There's really nothing i can do to save it but i want to know what this disease was so i can see if i should wait to get another or get one right away. (if contagious)
P.S. i have had this eel for about 7 or 8 months eating bloodworms 5 cubes a day everyday, (the previous owner only fed it this and he doesn't take anything else) skip sundays. he is being housed in a 100 gal with African and some south american cichlids. before it was a 60 gal with same fish. again this "fungus" looks almost like ich but bigger and floats on the skin like cotton strands if that makes sense. also the Anus of the fish is really red and inflamed.
