A local lfs has a female red terror. It seems to have either long stringlike white/clear fecal matter or maybe its some sort of worm. What is this and is there a treatment available.
I was thinking of getting her, if there is a treatment option

Ask the pet store to treat it with Internal Parasite meds (Prazi/Metro).. Ask them if you can put down a deposit to hold the fish until the quarantine period is over.. If your LFS values you as a customer at all, they should do something like this for you. If it dies before it recovers, they should refund your money, obviously.

:iagree: too :D

a couple other options might be to see if they'll reduce the price since the fish is sick or find out what their warranty policy is. the options Miles suggested would probably be your best bet though. hopefully you can work something out because a female red terror is definitely worth it (see my avatar).

Clear or white stringy/slimy feces are almost always a protozoal, often hexamita, Metronidazole treated food or wider spectrum antiparasite foods that made by jungle usually clears it up no problems.
