About 2 weeks ago my jaguar cichlid stopped eating. Noticed some white poop so I did some digging and found some medication to help it. He seems better (currently fanning his eggs from first breeding) still doesn't really eat well but will eat sometimes. Today I noticed my flowerhorn was not really into his pellets and started with the white poop. He's pooped about 5 times in the last hour. Both tanks water test ok (api test kit) and there always maintained in the same fashion. I'm just wondering if the paracites made there way from one tank to the other or if parasites were never the problem so treating didn't work? Any ideas on why his poop looks this way?13677391367740

It’s possible that the parasites were transferred from one tank to the other through common equipment use, I.e. gravel vac, siphon, etc.

I was kinda afraid of that. Any recommendation for treating two large tanks?

You can find various anti-parasitic medication. I’m sure there are others here that can give you a more detailed, strategic treatment plan.

Metronidazole and Epsom salt to the tank 1 tbsp per 5g. Once interested in food can feed some hex shield or metroplex.

Just throwing my 2 cents in... all my flowerhorns get the white poop.. it's from overfeeding... as soon as I see it I stop feeding for a day or 2 and all is good again... it's hard not to overfeed a pet that gets so damn excited to eat and jumps half out the tank to attack its food... but something you always havto keep in mind

I've only had him for a couple weeks and I know exactly what you mean. So much personality. I for sure overfeed him, I know I shouldn't and I get whatever he doesn't eat out. Very helpful, I hadn't considered that. I'll give it a shot for a couple days and see if it does the trick. Thank you.

No prob... just cut him off food for 2 days... dont play into his games and let him give you begging eyes... just ignore feeding for 2 days... then throw in a couple pellets... also.. stick to pellets and find a good one... hikari carnisticks is wht I feed my big boys now and when they younger ones I feed NLS tropical
