MFK members: I really do not want to lose this fish and I need some advice. I've had this beautiful fish for about 6-7 months. Here is what has been going on. I moved this GEO out of his 50 gal about three weeks ago as he was getting thumped by another Geo. Sur. At that time he was eating really well and was very active. I moved him to my wifes tank of tropicals, (40 gal) to give him some peace and he was doing really well, eating vigoursly etc. and chasing most of the fish. About a week ago he has stopped eating, does not sift, hides all the time and is very scetchy. I moved him to a 10 gal rehab tank in my garage that I keep running continuesly and he is not improving. His eyes are clear, no red gills or lesions, anal area looks fine. I'm thinking it could be internal. Below are his water parameters, (I just tested prior to opening up this thread) Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

10 gal rehab tank
Temp=78
Amonia=0
Nitrite=0
Nitrate=<.20
PH=7.6

you can treat for internal parasites, but from your params, the conditions of the fish, and how he looks, nothing seems wrong to me. i've bumped into my tank a few good times, scaring the absolute piss out of mine, having the same problems for a day or so. just keep an eye on him/her and if it gets worse THEN i would start to worry.

Hi Ron.. Sorry to hear about your geo. Altho I've had discus and a great variety of other fish, I'm just getting into geos so someone like EdBurress or Japes or Titansfever etc who have had them for awhile are better equipped to answer.. What I have found is that it's best not to throw meds at fish til you have at least tried lots of water changes and raising the temp and reducing the stress levels, unless of course you suspect something specific is wrong with the fish.. has the fish always been kept at 78 temp?? Keep us posted..:popcorn: and hopefully the fish will recover quickly... Sue:D

Hey Sue! That was my first thought was to stablize before medicating but he has been in the rehab tank since Sat. and just sits there and will not move or eat. His temp has always been 78. I will keep you posted with some updates. Thanks for caring.
