my german blue ram has developed a bump on his frontal head area something that looks like a pimple. no other fish in the tank are sick or show any other symptoms.
the german blue ram is in a quarantine tank right now with the temp at 83. still eating, was hiding a lot in the orignal tank becuase it was getting picked on by aother german blue ram. no meds have been put in to the tank yet. ive been looking at many pics on the internet and cannot find anything that resembles this. please look at the pics and help me heal this fish. thank you for your time. sorry for the bad phone pics.

Were you referring to the white growth? It looks raised in the reflection caught on the first photo. If it had been previously attacked by another ram, chances are this is a classic case of bacterial infection. Do you have access to either tetracycline or combination of maracyn and maracyn 2? Either of the two may be needed but be careful when dosing. Blue rams are extremely sensitive to treatments.

hey thanks for the help
i was referring to the white spot and the raised bump
also, there are two red dots under the white dot.
i ordered a bunch of medicine online and it should be here monday.
the only thing i have right now for bacterial infection is jungle labs fungas tabs and medicated food for bacterial infedction but he is not eating since he been moved to the quarantine tank.
should i use the fungas tab?

thanks for the help

could it be a beginning of hith?

its a nice looking fish by the way.

but honestly - I have rams too... and sometimes they spar... and they always grab eachothers faces if putting the run on one another isnt good enough... sometimes its a bit more than expected.
they are peaceful "cichlids" but they are still cichlids (technically) and they can and will battle it out.

what it looks like to me - is exactly what Lupin said... a bacterial infection... or to be more redundant - a secondary infection result from an open wound.
he took a good beating from someone, and so did his pride, no wonder he was hiding :(

most run of the mill little pet shops carry primafix. and melafix. use em together, follow directions per size of tank you have your little buddy with the bumped knoggin is quarantined in.
remember to take out the carbon media in your filter!

give him a few days... and things should be right as rain... if he still is refusing to eat - there are suppliments that flavour the water to entice picky eaters...

if the nasty thing on his face still hasnt shown any improvement... Add a little aquarium salt to the water, raise the temp, and let him sit in the dark for a while... of course check on him but fish seem to heal better with the lights out - less stress...

My german blue ram male has these exact same symptoms!!! i have no idea what his issue is... his belly is starting to become sunken as well... His upper lip is starting to protrude from this tumor like head growth.
