Hi everyone. Hoping someone can help us here. We have a 55 gallon tank with 2 green severums, 4 tiger barbs, 2 silver dollars, 4 loaches, 4 corry cats, 1 placo, 1 red gourami, 1 electric blue ciclid, 1 scat, a newt, and the newest addition a baby turquois severum. We have been running this tank for about a year with no problems, all levels have been good. Very healthy beautiful fish. Until....the newest addition was added to the tank. The baby severum had ich and infested our green severums (they are about a year old). We have been treating the tank with quick cure for about six days. The ich appears to be gone from the green severums, but now they have a white film covering their bodies and their fins look like they are being torn apart. They are hovering at the top of the tank and sometimes swim sideways. What is this? Does anyone know? Thanking you in advance - fin5535:nilly:

I don't know, but I also have two greens that have recently gotten really dark and have that white film you're talking about. Its kind of blotchy. Their fins are also torn up a bit. They seem normal in terms of eating but seem to be in love with the heater. Help us out

your combo of fish is......weird! you have like fish from like 6 different bio-topes i thought scats were brackish/full marine...when mature?
a newt with sev's? my sev would rip a newt apart in a second.

hmmm anyway i bought my sev with a slight white film over it i put it in a tank to itself with heat/salt and all was good in about 3 days :D

i wouldn't suggest putting salt in your tank because of the corys (no idea how they are alive with sevs) but still......

xx
