Sick green spot puffer need help!!!!

Got home and my lil guy was swimming sluggish and now he just sitting on the bottom. Checked the water and nitrate was high so i did a 30% water change. What else should i try so i dont lose my3 year old puffer 

do like a 60% water change, turn off the lights and observe

So do 30 % water change again and turn the light off. Whats the light trick help with???( Guess reduce stress)

K got the lights off and fina work on tge water change

is he breathing rapidly? If not and just stressing from the nitrate spike the water change should do the trick. Is your salinity correct?

He seems to b breathing kinda fast. The salinity is 1.050

My lil puffer lost his fight with death. Time and date of death 4/3/12 at 8.15pm. Lost but never forgotten.
