Sick Juvie Oscar

I just noticed last night after I fed my 1 1/2" oscar that he got lethagic. Well he has been that way up till tonight and he hasnt eaten, but I did notice he was pooping white strings. Need some advice on what he has and what I should get for meds or medicated foods?

Water quality is tip top shape. Ammonia, Nitrite = 0 and Nitrate = 10 ppm. Temp is 78. He has been eating small floating pellets.

I would raise the temp, add some salt, and feed/medicate with ant-parasite medications.

you may have just fed it to much food.they don't now when to stop eating.try not feeding it for a day or to and see if it seems better.if that works don't feed as much.meds only last resort.as it would be hard on the fish.hope that helps.good luck

I am pretty sure he has an internal bug. As for getting meds or medicated foods, I am no where near a place that has them, so I ordered some tonight and they wont be here probably until Thursday. I will keep feeding him a very little bit, if he eats until that gets here. Hopefully he makes it till then.

i had an oscar at 4" do the exact same thing as yours. i was a novice at the time and didnt do anything to treat him because i was afraid of doing the wrong thing, whithin a week he died. i dont know what the problem is but i would start with the salt approach unless someone else can diagnose ur prob
