I have 2 leopard bush fish in a 30 gallon tank. One is around an 1 1/2" and the other is 2". I noticed the other day that the 2" leopard bush fish was acting alittle weird when i was feeding them but he was eating and i didnt see anything wrong with him at the time. I just noticed today that my "2 inch leopard bush fish had a red streak on his fin and both his fins were alittle messed up. I did some research and it sounds like amonia poisoning. My amonia is alittle above .25 and my nitrates are below 20. What do you guys think. Thanks

he still eats but just acts a little off. I have slate in my tank and am thinking maybe he clipped it on that. is right fin has red in it and has looked like something took a bite out of it but I'm almost positive its not the smaller one because I watch them a lot and have never seen aggression at all. its a species only tank for now but I'm just trying to brainstorm and see what i can do because i don't want to wake up with only one bush fish left. I should have mentioned it earlier but the smaller one is perfectly fine.

Red streaks could ammonia irritation. Do a 75% water change now. Add some beneficial bacteria to the tank. Would do some twice a week water changes. How long has the tank been setup? Using a dechlorinator?

the tank has been set up for around 2 months with fish in it. I took media from my already cycled 90 gallon to start it up. i have been using Marineland dechlorinator but just ran out and am going to pick it up tomorrow. should i still wait for the water change and how should I put more beneficial bacteria in the tank? would ammonia irritation effect the fins besides color? thanks for the reply

Would wait for the dechlorinator. Can always add some ammonia block or carbon for now. Get some bacteria in a bottle. Most lfs have some. Even Walmart has it.
