Water parameters. Temp usually 82. Bumped it to 85 now. Ammonia and nitrite 0. Nitrate 20. Ph 7.6.
I noticed my FH acting weird 2 days ago. I watched him until yesterday I saw white poop. I put in api general cure and Epsom salt in his tank. It has been almost 48 hours. Haven't really noticed any improvement. I haven't feed him in 2 days and his belly hasn't shrunk any. Maybe someone can tell me if they think its hex or constipation. Thank you.

Classic sign of Spironucleus vortens aka Hexamita. I have a sticky on the subject in this folder. If he will still eat, NLS Hex-Shield works well, but if you can't get your hands on that then IMO the next best thing is to feed 3% epsom soaked pellets as directed in the sticky. Also, turn the heat back down, no need for higher temps, in fact 80F is plenty warm enough for FH. Higher temps can create conditions for certain pathogenic bacteria to flourish, such as columnaris aka duck lips. Good luck.

I read your sticky, but I wasn't sure if it was hex. None of my fish have ever had it. I soaked some pellets with the general cure, not sure if that helps or not. He seems to be more active today.

I fed a young cichlid Hex-Shield for 5 days, then gave it a week rest, then a second treatment for another 4-5 days. That fish is still alive & well and that was I think 2+ yrs ago.

3 days is the manufacturers recommendation, which is still probably a good idea to stick with in most cases.

Ok thank you. I just ordered some from supercichlids. Is it okay to have general cure and epsom salt in tank and feed him hex shield?

Yes, that's fine.
