This is my first post. Gutted is about my mbu being sick.
I have a 22inch mbu.
He’s currently in a 8ft x3ft x 2ft aquarium.
With a large sump as filtration and a fx6
Perameters 0-0-10 ph 7.5
He’s been acting strange this week. First part of the week he kept himself to himself and just led in the corner of the tank. Only swimming out when food was added and not eating as much as usual but still eating. 2 days ago he started just constantly swimming around the tank never really stopping but still took food.
Yesterday he was the same swimming contasntly but has eaten any food nor was he remotely interested in it when added to the tank. This morning he was much the same as last night. However now he is led on the bottom of the tank flopped over to one side. Now he is still I can see he has developed a lump on one side of his body behind his fin. Leading me to think it maybe something internal.
I’ve done a large water change 90% just in case it is something in the water. However much gut says internal.
I did treat for internal parasites when I first had him 3 years ago and he nor any tank mates have ever displayed any signs since. No new fish have been added in over 6 months. Only thing I changed was adding a drip system to the tank that filter through a HMA filter before entering the tank. I done this as I was going away with my wife over Christmas and my dad would be feeding the fish. I came back off holiday the tank was fine. Nitrates were a little high between 40-80ppm I done a few water changes and it was back to normal. I left the drip system running as he’s getting bigger he’s producing more waste I didn’t think it would hurt having fresh water added constantly. The drip system was changing between 100-140l of water a day. So 100%of the tank volume in 10 days.
As he’s not eating I don’t know the best solution for treatment. Any advice would be brilliant.
