sick midas

hey evryone, i just picked up this fish from an aquatance who was gonna flush him, its a 7 inch red devil. he has white growth a.ll over him, please help as i have never had sick fish beforeand have no idea what it is. the tank he was in had a horrible smell, thatsd pretty much all i know about the previous water conditions. please help if you can, including suggested meds, thanx

Looks like it's been in a tank with a large Ph drop. I've had midas that look like that if the Ph in my tank drops too low.

Are you sure he's in healthy water now? Check the water parameters (Ph, amonia, nitrites, nitrates). IF any of them are too high, do a 25-50% water change.

Also, using non-iodized salt at 1 tbsp per 5 gallons really helps too.

ive got him in a quarantine tank where evrything is fine, like i said before i dont know much about the water he was in previously other than it was coudy and it smelled pretty badly

If the water it's in now is good, give it time and if you haven't done so yet, I'd highly recommend salting your tank...it really helps sick fish recover.
