About 3 months ago my dimidiochromis compressiceps got little white spots on her fins and i notice that my other fish were scratching themselfs against things in the tanks. Which to me looked like ick, my fish have had ick before and i use coppersafe and that worked great that was about a year ago. So the first medicine i used was coppersafe, which did nothing and since then i try at less 7 or 9 different medicines mostly ick meds and ever a fungus med with no lucky. Between meds i change 75% of the water and put new carbon in the filters taking it out for medicating. And not much as change in 3 months my dinidiochromis compressiceps still has white spots and my other fish are still scratching, my other fish dont have white spots. I cant thing of anything I could have done to cause this, all my water parameters are good. I just dont know what eles to do. And my fish show no signs of stress and their swimming and eating just fine. I would appreciate any advice.

I have luck with adding aquarium salt and maintaing the temp. at 82-84. For ick any kind of malachide green of formalin is good.

I have added aquarium salt and try two kinds of meds that have malachide green. I guess i'll try rising my temp. thanks for the info. Anyone eles have any ideas.

at the same time treating with medication is deadly on your beneficial nitrifying bacteria in the tank. I've never had luck with medication.....my fish just get sick and die and it SUCKS! Especially when they were AWESOME or I bought them from someplace special/far away or spent a substantial amount of money on them. Be sure to research what medication can do to your beneficial bacteria before mixing meds or dosing and whatnot. Fish disease is a pain in the butt and very difficult to diagnose and treat.

Doing 75% water changes beteen treatment and putting fresh carbon and taking it out of the filters before i tried the next med, the highest the nitrate reading in my tank never got above 20 an it usually nothing and i have never had a nitrite reading. And i have never mixed any meds.
