pelican lake wi
I have a 12" oscar that doesnt swim around or eat like he used to. I had him in my ciclid tank, But I started missing a few to many fish so I had to move him. I put him in a 72 gal. tank. I had 3 other larger ciclids in there with him, and left all the smaller ciclids in the larger tank. He was doing fine for a few months.. Then I notinced the change in him. He used to just attack the feeder fish when I used to give him live food. Now he still eats, But it takes him a long time. He doesnt swim around like he used to. I reached in the tank and he actually let me grab ahold of him- and he didnt freak out. Thats not like him at all. He looks alright other then not swimming around, and no energy. I just removed 2 of the other cilids from the tank and put them back in the larger ciclid tank. There not agressive. So right now theres only the 1 oscar and a 5" ciclid in the tank. I do have another tank running through the wet/dry on this same tank. It has 2 bass in it wich are healthy. I checked the water conditions and they are all ok. I did a 50 % water change yesterday, and Im going to do another water change in a few days. What do you think????? Is he sick??????? He hasnt lost any color but he just isnt actin right. I have the temp at 80. I might put another filtration on the other tank to keep it seperate. But the wet/dry is for a 150gal, and I have the 72, and a 55 on it. What should I do???

It is probably just sulky because of a change of environment. As long as it is eating you can relax.

EDIT: Just saw that you said it has been in the new tank for months. I have no idea now. But still, if it is eating, I wouldn't worry too much. Perhaps add some salt.

Check the feeders def. also do some water changes add a good amount of salt also what is ur tank temp. at? the higher the tank temp and i am NOT saying over do it but his matabolism will become faster helping him digest food this should also make him a little for active just make sure he is eating and you might want to consider getting rid of the feeders try a pellet or frozen food as a staple this should even out his system and get him going again.
