Hello, I live in Florida and have three large Oscars in a 30 gallon tank. I have already been to another Oscar website and have been told that our tank is to small for these three fish.

Our largest Oscar has an area on it's right side just in front of his fin that looks like his scales are falling off. I have checked with my local pet store this morning and was told that m water is in good condition, all of my levels are acceptable. I was given Pimafix and Melafix to use for the next seven days. I feed them TetraColor Cichlid Sticks and once a month give them live fish.

My question is there anyone in the Brevard/Orange County area that would be interested in adopting my largest Oscar. He is about 7 or 8 inches long. Aggressive and jumps out of the water at feeding time. He is very funny and will come to the front of the tank when I walk over to the tank. My kids call him "Jaws".

I really want to find a good home for him, as I feel that he has outgrown our tank. When we get him he was about 2 inches. We have had him about 7 months. Thanks in advance for any help. Karen

ps I have a picture of him with the spot on his face, not sure how to post it here.

What I suggest is that you raise the temp to 82 and when using meds like that you should:
1. Remove all carbon
2. Add if not already in tank a airstone or bubble rod for more O2.
3. When using the meds cover the tank and use salt as well
4. About every other day change about 40 to 50% of the water in the tank and continue on with this until the seventh day has past.
5. On the eighth day do a thorough cleaning on the gravel and tank but wait about 2 days for the cleaning on the filter.

And with this yuou should see great results in the healing and curing of anything in the tank and on the O's.

One thing to look at is your filtration is at least 10x the tank size so you should have at least 300 gallons per hour flowing in the tank with the assist of air rods or stones as well. And keep up on the WC about 40% twice a week or as needed by you test checks
