Have a 8 inch sail fin pleco that I have noticed has a mucus clear poop. I'm guessing it's an internal parisite. He's still eating and looks healthy besides what's coming out of him. I have moved to a qt tank and fed some metro laced cucumber. Any thoughts on what I may be missing ? Thanks

hey dude it is a problem of internal parasite problem and please try to fix it as it could lead to eventually killing the pleco. As a year ago my high fin albino pleco died due to the internal parasite issue that i had not noticed .
i suggest you can feed him medicine called as "Metrodiasinol" ,take a pill and mix it with 75% water in a small intection until it is completely dissolved. Inject it into the mouth of the pleco and then feed him some pellets or the food that he likes the most and then you can get results in a day or so.
give him my Love as my pleco passed away because of my improper attention

Thanks for the quick reply. So he ate the cucumber laced with seachem metro but you are suggesting forcing the metro into his mouth? Very new to me could you elaborate a little? I have some praxipro as well I could ride the tgevtank with.

Ya surely i am up for it
so as i told earlier you wanna mix the tablet in the injection
1) dont net the fish as it will stress him out and tahts nt nice
2) flip him on this back and try to hold his body in such a way that all his spine are not pricking you or his boys will feel like a single surface
3) take the injection (please dont buy their needles)
just the injection
4) stick the tip of the injection nozzel inside the mouth of the pleco
5) the pleco if hesitates the put him again in the tank and do the same above process
6) no that he is exuasted and calm so then try to empty all the medicine inside his mouth and dont let any medicine get away from his mouth
7) try to reach the stomach through the medicine asit will be more effective for him
8) try to feed him his favorate food and and then let the medicine to its work.

How interesting. I've never heard of force/feeding meds to plecos. I could see how it would be more effective, but don't you need to worry more about not overdosing?
I've only ever soaked food and then fed that.

Op a baby medicine syringe is what I believe Aquatank is talking about.

Well right now he is eating very well the medicated food. I am going to find the small syringe just in case. Trying not to handle him, doesn't need any more stress.

force feeding can have its place but I would not recommend it now with pleco that is eating well.

Treat the water with prazi pro.
For metro it does work better when eaten but can be used as water treatments.
Pick up a gel food such as repashy (very high quality foods) and make the repashy with the metro. He will eat this

Force feeding is great for fish that are not eating. If the pleco is still eating well I would not put him through the stress. You could cause more harm then help.
