got 4 pleuro's a couple of weeks ago, lost one within a week (came home to find it dead under some wood and seemed trapped and so think it may have suffocated), lost another a couple of days ago after it had some strange fit and died immediately. then tonight one seemed to be doing something similar and now half it's face has turned black!!

any idea what's going on and what to do?

I cant even hint at what that is but Ive caught fish that have recently been caught and the area around the wound is dark like that, could it be bruising? Midnight posted a jewel cichlid in the photo lounge he caught whose head is half black just like that too.

crikey! that's crazy, get in touch with Brucki or one of the other pro Channa dudes. This is very odd but i'm sure it's individual enough to have an explanation.

Fingers crossed:)

I would think it's some sort of sign of stress or something of the sort? I would quarantine and keep alone in own seperate tank for awhile.

Sorry to see this happen, mate. Good luck to ya! :(

Ummm just like johnptc's fish...

the black coloration seems to be a pinched nerve throughout the face which can cause pigment to change. ,peacock bass get this once in a while, and for the others, got back and check water levels temp etc. let us now what happens GL
