ive got a little pufferfish i caught in my 10gallon tank and he has ich. hes only about the size of a nickel and is reaaly cool hes eating good and is happy but is sick right now:( . i usually give my ich striken fish a good old fashoin fresh water dip. but can i do that with a puffer. if he inflates will the fresh water hurt him? please help. i dont wanna treat the tank because its going to be a reef and last time i used RID-ICK by KORDON
all my coraline algea bleached. ( RID-ICH is theONLY product by KORDON i dislike. go AMQUEL!) but i dislike using malichite green for SW in general.

Im gonna throw in my 2 cent SW noob suggestion, can u use some of the same sw in the other tank and treat him in the qt tank instead of FW?

i dont have a QT tank . i know now im gonna get told by a "noob" ( your not really a noob) i should have a QT tank but my 55g is a local fish tank so i dont QT it and i stocking my mini reef all at once after i move my puffer out of it.

i have no clue he isnt a cowfish or a green puffer his head looks like that of a porcupine fish he is tan with little yellow lumps. when he puffs his belly is jet black and the yellow lumps really make him look cool. he has no spines. he may be a baby Burrfish or mabye a porcubine fish will have pics later if he lives!

Well unfortunately a fresh water dip is really stressful to them you could use a cleaner shrimp to eat the ich or a dip in paraguard from seachem work's nice you could put a extra pump in a 5 gallon bucket with fresh saltwater and treat him in there just remember never expose a puffer to air.

you could also try Seachem Cupramine in the 5 gallon bucket treatment as well just research always like you did before you treat to save losing a fish or invert, etc... I would also check marinedepot.com medicine section as well they may have some other nice product's if your not sure about using copper or paraguard.

I have never heard of that before, so i went and looked it up, and that is some crazy stuff. Did you know you can use clove oil as a sedative? Sorry didnt mean to derail the thread, just dumbfounded.
