Hi.
I woke up this morning to find both my rays appear to have eye fungus. My little male has had a hazy eye since i got him a year ago, but yesterday it got really bad and now even my big female has it. I cannot see their pupils through the fungus, and there appears to be a little blood beneath the fungus. I did a 25% waterchange yesterday, no help so far. They appear to be eating normally, though its obvious they cant see well.

What should I do???
Hydrogen peroxide treatment? Any other solutions? I am very thankful for any help I can get.

Edit: Im not sure if this matters, but for about a year I only fed they rays frozen blood worms, and as of 2 weeks ago i started feeding them primarily frozen mysis shrimp. They seem to like those more. Could the change in diet be effecting their health?

water params? if im right fungus is usually secondary to another problem. is the tank spotlessly clean? i think your only treatment options are salt and maybe melafix/pimafix but ive never had to use any chemicals with rays so maybe someone with more experience can help

Eye problems are caused by poor water quality.

You need to be doing 25% water changes every week as min

It worries me that you are talking about mysis and bloodworms for a Ray that you have had some time, bloodworms might be ok for a pup for a few months but that it is, it is just too small. Also a varied diet is so very important, carrots are perfectly healthy for humans but eat them only and you would not be well.

You need to be using large krill, lance fish, massivore and carnivore pellets, mussel, earthworms from a bait shop etc.....

Please check ammonia, nitrite, ph and nitrate and report back with honest answers and quote the amounts, not just all clear.

I would gravel clean the whole tank and do 2 50% water changes in the first week.

I assume you are using dechlorinator.?

Do a search on the type of salt that you cAn use as this will prob clear up the eye but you need to fix the water too.

Also let us know tank size, filter type and water change regime. What is e nitrate level and ph level of the tap water used for wc too?
