Five days ago i brought home a red severum to my 55 gallon tank. he is only 3 maybe 4 inches long and the tank has been running for a year with weekly water changes, new filters every month and live plants in the tank. there is a baby oscar, baby fire mouth, baby convict, and a baby polypterus in the tank. for some reason when i put him in the tank all he would do is sit in a corner almost vertical and would still be doing that if i didnt catch him flipping upside down in the tank so i put him in a breeder net and he flips less. he will not touch any food at all. ive tried blood worms, brine shrimp, sinking frog pellets, and cichlid gold. and he also seems to be gasping when he breathes. he isnt gasping at the surface just breathing really hard. im really worried because this guy is so pretty and i paid $30 for him. please help? any advice would be very much appreciated

Water are your water stats? Ammonia and nitrite in particular? Any other fish breathing hard? How long have all these baby fish been in this tank? What do you mean you change your filters every month? You should only be rinsing the filter media in old tank water. Do not change things out as you risk throwing out your biological media.
I would do a major water change, don't touch the filters. I would change out 80% of your water unless you know those ammonia and nitrite stats. Also consider leaving the water a little lower so your filters splash incase there is an O2 problem.
