I got a question for you asian aro pros.. One of my RTG has got a few spots on his dark part of the back and head. Looks like the colour is fading on.. He didnt eat yesterday as they always do. The thing is, i allready lost one RTG aa few month ago that looked the same. I did move him to a hospital tank for a week and tried to medicin for fung or what you guys call it. I did allso put a few platy in the tank so he could eat cus he refused to eat his normal diet of, market prawn, marketfisk, clams.

But he died after a week. So now i think this one got the same thing.. The other RTG thats in the tank is fine, so is the silver, and both my motoro. M SR has been acting werid for 1,5month now and been picky with the food (dont know what happend to him) but he looks fine.

Ill see if i can pick up my camera and snap a few pics of him later today so u can see what i mean

come on guys i need help fast.. Now did i found him resting on the gravel but start swiming when i moved to the tank. Most of the dark colour on the back is gone now. hes more green on the back. just like my other that died. But this happend over a day.. Can it be sumthing with the food??

i did just move him to the hospital tank, and tried the only medc i got home for white spots and other infections...

But hes been in this tank for 15 month with 2 other asains and one silver and 2 motoro.. i did try a new diet last night but i dont think he ate anyting.. Its amixed bag with, clams, praws, shrimps, squids. I only tried this bage once before and i dont know if it was the same time as the other got sick. But he slowly stoped to eat so it took time for him, but he got the same colour syndrom but not this fast. i have never tested PH since its always fine here, and im out of nitrit test so i cant test it. But i did a small water change yesterday and a normal one today. Its a 380g tank and i change 20-30% water a week and the temp is at 27celcius atm. Normaly aroun 25-26 but its been hot here today and much sun. I never had any sick fishes before during my time in this hobby besides from platys and fishes like that. So when i lost my other RTG it was just to much and i cant stand loosing one more..

Was the seafood cooked or raw? did you pre-wash it? Why did you medicate if you don't know whats wrong? Moving him and increasing stress is not good either. Wrongly used meds could make thing worse and much harder for us to help you. You should invest in a water test kit, this important. Is your tap water chloramine or chlorine treated? What water conditioner do you use? Your aro was fine yesterday and not today the only thing you changed was diet last night, and you don't think that could be the problem? Probably the best thing to do would have been to leave him be, refrain from feeding, and maintain good water quality, and observe. He may have got spooked and bonked his head and is just showing signs of stress. I'm not sure how you want us to help......If you don't give us good information to work from.

I never use anyting for my water and never had to for the last 10 years. I do test but thats rare since i never have sick fishes. I use 3 FX5+2 fluval 104 for the 380g tank so the filtering and flow is fine. The food is from the same company that i awlays use, only diffrence is that its in a mixed bag and it has squids in it and they never eat them expept for the silver that eats everything. I always buy their clams, prawns and it worked fine for over a year. I moved him so he wont get beaten up if the other fishes feels hes week. And it looks like his fins are sticky. Hard to explain. Ill get a pic tomorow if hes still alive.

Anyone heard of aros getting sick from eating squids?? Since i cant be 100% sure if he did eat at all and if he did if he got a squid.

And i dont know what kind of info u need beside from nitrit and so.. But ill get a new nitrit test torrow. And take some pics of him

Squid as long as it fresh and clean is fine to feed. Arowana are very sensitve to chlorine which is used in most water systems in some areas they add ammonia to the chlorine which make chloramine which can stay in water for several weeks. The ammonia or chlorine could cause this, thats why I ask. Tests results of the folowing would help too: Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and Ph. The chlorine/chlormine would be a extremely toxic to your fish, they would loss color, appetite, lay on the bottom, and look dry, and eventually die if the water isn't stablized. Hope things work out for you.

I did 3 tests now of the water from his normal tank. PH= 6.5 No2=0ppm No3= 10ppm. Hes alive and looks more active today in the hospital tank but he still look messed up and paled =(

I will do a FE and Kh test later today when im back from work

I once bought a mixed bag and was gonna give it to my Aro when I read the package and some were cooked, some raw, some had other stuff like corn starch added, etc. So make sure the package says clearly that it doesn't contain anything added, just raw.

Like boydo said Chlorine/chloramines are very toxic to any fish. You should invest in dechlorinator such as Genesis, Amquel, Aquasafe, and so forth. You shouldnt have removed the aro from its current tank..it may have caused it more stress. please post pics when you can
