My 8" Senagal has recently developed a swelling by both its anal and pelvic fins. Its very noticeable but doesn't have the pinecone appearance of dropsy. It can hold its position fine in the tank but I've moved it on its own in a 100L to treat it. It feeds but not as well and I stopped feeding it several days ago. Theres no change in colour or any marks other than the swelling. The tank it was and is in are both bare-bottomed. It feeds on cockle, market prawn and pellets.
Just finished a 5 day course of a broad range bactericide (Mxyazin) to no avail.
Can't take pictures as the camera with my Parents at the moment. Any ideas people? I'm thinking now it may be worms.
Please bear in mind I'm UK based so won't be familiar with a lot of US brand treatments
Thanks ROB

I noticed the same problem as you with my 6" 3 year old senegalus about 2-3 months ago. Except I noticed slight reddening of the area. No treatments worked and I do feel its some sort of internal parasite. Ive treated with praziquantel and metronidazole neither affected the swelling. I just gave up as she is still eating very well and doesnt seem to be losing weight. She acts the same as she always did just with a little swelling. As long as she/he eats normally and acts normal I wouldnt worry too much about it.

... Just noticed you said swelling by the pelvic fins, that may change a few things. I still dont think it sounds too serious, w/o looking at pictures.
