I've had my 4' silver arowana for about a week now, he's currently in a 55G while we wait for our custom tank to be built. he's been chillin, eating normal. He eats the carnivore sticks, bloodworms and shrimp. He's eaten a few roseys before.

The issue is, he is laying down on the bottom. By choice. Whenever I walk up to the tank, he swims off, but when he's comfortable, he's at the bottom of the tank. This started today, a day after I did a water change (I put in the correct amounts of water conditioner and prime after the change, which was maybe a 30%)

He is swimming healthy, (when he's not at the bottom lmao). He's eating normally, i feed him 3 times a day.

His tankmates are 2 blood parrot cichlids (less than 3' long each), 2 black ghost knife fish (each currently sitting at 3') and 2 NOT GIANT danio's.

What should I do? Is he even sick?

Welcome aboard

It's good to hear the little Silver Arowana is eating but laying at the bottom isn't normal ime with small Silver Arowana.
Have you tested your water parameters lately?

And yes, around a week ago, the nitrites and nitrates were a tad bit higher than 0, but not nearly enough to cause stress. buying test strips now, will update.

Nitrite should be 0ppm always or the filter can't handle the bioload. I suggest feeding less until you get test strips.

Nitrites were pretty high, I'm using the Aqueon 75 pro LED some ****, thinking of either switching to a fluval filter or a sponge. only problem with the sponge, i have the aqueon 24' tank lid, and two little tubes wont be enough to cover the hole they make you BREAK out for the filter, my arowana will definitely find his way to jumping out. Any suggestions?

i noticed the water level was too high for the filter, to where it was getting in the area of the filter that spits out the filtered water, if you know what i mean. I lowered the water level down a very little amount, i cleaned the charcoal pads.
