for the past 2 days my silver have been breahting very hardand not eating.
he also looks like he has excess slime.
i've done 2 water changes and treated the tank with melafix and salt, rasied the temp from 77 to 80 and have kept the lights off.
hes 12" long and when i got him he still had his sack, so im really attached and i don't want to lose him.
tank is a 135 gal, 30 gal sump, cascade 300, tetra tech (dont remember the model but its the biggest hob they have), life gaurd fbf.
ammo-.25
nitrite- 0ppm
nitrate- in between 0 and 12.5
what can i do to save him?

shoot! i dont know whats happening to him... but i hope u can post some pics of him.
ill start of by praying he pulls through.

any recent thing u added to the tank? what was his last meal?

update:
well he was swimming before but now hes just drifting around.
i don't think hes gonna make it much longer, so i guess all i can do is make his last fewhours easy and peaceful.

check your ph level make sure you stay between 6.8 to 7.2... if your over the 8.0 range, that could be one of the reasons for the excess slime... do a water change about 25 percent every 2-3days, add alot of aquarium salt, ph down, and proper amounts of water conditioners... also keep water fairly warm between 80-83 degrees... that should help ease the stress... hopefully it's not to late for the fella'... good luck

well it's over, i think i'm done with fw fish for a little while.
but dont worry the tank will be swapped over to salt this weekend, i plan on some sweet triggers for the winter.
