I got my baby in last week, 3.5inches. Shes in a plenty large enough tank, with the right temp, filtration, pre cycled, and parameters are all in check to narrow that down. She has been happily buzzing the whole tank until yesterday. In the morning I got up for work and she was in one corner, didn't pay attention to me, and just hovering there. Shes got her tail up above her head, head just off the substrate, at a pretty good angle. She was like that pretty much all day yesterday. I have been watching her since I got home, and she will level out for a few seconds, then her tail goes back up and she points her head down. Like her tail is attached to a float. When the tank lights went out last night she started buzzing around a little like usual so figured she was just in a weird mood. Well, this morning my girlfriend wakes me up to tell me shes dead. Shes in the back corner of the tank, face up, straight up and down just floating behind driftwood. My heart sank, I reached in, and she starts fluttering and takes off through the tank. I reached in and she let me pet her (only a week in and she lets me touch her after feedings and what not, hoping this is gonna be the puffer who likes its tummy rubber haha) and flutters out of my hands and around the tank. Well, shes back in the bottom front corner, hovering, and she levels out but a few seconds later tail floats back up. I really don't want to lose this fish, shes absolutely gorgeous, eats fine not finicky at all, great activity and personality, and man was she pricey. Any ideas on whats going on so I can act fast?

Gonna go see if she will eat some breakfast.

sounds like an air bubble, call me at the shop

Possibly just sleeping but may need burping.

Been like this a day and a half. Trying the burping thing a few times today. Tried once thought I saw a bubble but cant be sure. Still same looking but will give it a go again in a few minutes.

Exactly how are you burping him?

Holding gently, mouth up, tail down, rubbing the belly gently. Is there another way? Im not trying to hurt her.

I'm curious to hear about this, too. Never had any issues like that with mine but curious to hear how this is done and more importantly, how they get it in the first place.

They can gulp air in the bags during shipment, they can gulp air when the come to the top of the tank to "greet" their owner.

I think thats the case here. Two or three days ago she stuck her mouth above water when I was getting ready to feed her. I have tried to burp her 4-5 times now and havnt noticed any bubbles come out or any improvement.

try burping her a little more aggressively.
