I posted this once, and got no replies. Maybe a pic will help this time...

This is my Syno, "Booger"

I know this isn't the best photo, but you can see that he has developed this white striping along his lateral line. And recently, more white streaking has appeared all along his sides and back. Aside from this, he looks fine, eats fine, swims fine, for all practical purposes, acts fine. I've never seen this before and I'm a little worried. Right now, I'm treating the tank with Melafix (he has some nipped fins to grow back, too). Anyone have a clue as to what this may be? Please comment.

I have seen this with cichlids before but never on a catfish. It seems to be harmless and doesn't affect them... just kinda ugly. Gives him a unique look.

Lateral Line disease is the same thing as hole in the head (I think). I would say you don't have to worry as long as he is looking ok and it isn't getting any worse.

I had same problem with my syd.. I think it was just like scrapes from fighting or swimming into decor, I think its common with scaleless cats, plus with his skin color being dark silver and black it's just easy to see.
