I'd rather him have to pay a rediculous sized fine to some sort of tortoise conservation trust or something rather than jailtime. Nothing good will come from tax payers keeping him in jail. And yeah, it's sick.

at least some type of punishment was inflicted, so many people mistreat animals these days, i agree it's a fairly light sentence, but it's better than just telling him he's a bad person and letting him go on his merry way...
