since my tank is stocked full of wild discus.. i actually decided to pull the trigger and start parting out my pleco collection blah...
just so my discus can have better water condition and thrive.

have you guys ever had to give up one or the other?

its freaking sad.

Sorry to hear you have to part with your pleco collection, it seems like you loved them quite a bit...just know that you are probably doing whats best for your discus. If you love your pleco collection that much, I'd try to sell them to a buddy or buddies who also love fish keeping that way you can see them again and not be so regretful of your decision :D

Got any Zebra or Clown Plecos? I will gladly take them off your hands ;)

I have to get rid of my Pictus, which makes me sad! They're such cute little things, sometimes when they really get territorial with each other they'll start grunting. It's pretty cute. Buuuut they need to go before my Oscar gets much bigger, I don't want to risk it!

Whats wrong with having pictus and oscars? Usually the oscars will stay in the mid-top level of the tank while the pictus will stay near the bottom...Even when your oscar outgrows them he should leave them alone, but I guess if your worried about it you could buy some bigger pictus cats instead

Because if the oscar tries to eat the pictus the end result is bad for both of them. Its happened several times

Most Oscar sites say to not keep them with Pictus, and for good reason. All it takes is one misplaced bite and there goes your favorite Oscar fish. Not worth the risk. He's 5" and they're 4" and he's already starting to chase them now and again. I'd rather get fish that I know can't kill him if he bites them.
And Oscars swim at all levels, not just mid/top..

I guess you have a point there, but I think it also depends on the oscars personality...but I guess it is best not to risk it

& I know oscars swim at all levels :) I said -usually- they stay at the mid-top levels of the tank

Really? Not mine! He's usually middle/bottom, begging for food from my dog when she's over there watching him hahah... :)
