my jag is rubbing up against a rock in the tank, now its shaking from side to side like its having a seizure or something. nipping at some of the other fish in the tank.
Can this be a sign of spawning?
i know that in the past she has attempted to lay eggs but no success due to lack of male or a mature one at least.
my midas has somewhat gotten larger since the last attempt and now is following the jag around without being harrassed or chased off. Can a jag and midas breed?

Yes...A jag and a Midas can breed....

Look closely at the vent(a-hole)......If her egg tube is sticking out noticeably, then you got yourself a female ready to lay eggs...Has she dug any holes???Normally the males in the cichlid world do this sort of thing...If that Midas and her are not fighting while she on "heat," you have a great chance of another crossbreed in the making....Cross your fingers....Keep the forum updated...

i have a thin layer of gravel in my tank and yes there is a section cleared out. the midas and jag are not doing thier normal chasing procedure. i will keep an update of this.
