I baught this guy from a petco 6 months ago. I feed him shrimp and he lives in a 55g grow out tank.
wat bothers me is that he doesn't have the same color as normal signal bichirs have and I know he's not an albino.

can you tell me why he's diffrent? or is it just a variation? Should I be worried?

it is very light colored because you have him on white sand ;)

It's a normal "senegal" bichir. The colors of sens can go from brown to grey. Good looking little guy.

I agree with the others on it's a senegal, and an adorable one at that!
They do vary in color, mine had a pink tail after I fed her salmon...

I thought so! :D I hope he...she stays that color. So far so good!
BTW: I had it in the tank when I had pea-gravle in it and it was still that color!
And I know I'm not supposed to ask this here but I am really bad at determaning sex so first of all how do you sex them and secondly what sex do you think this one is?
