silca / non silca sand

just reading through the 12 tips and it says non silca sand for rays

a) whats the difference

b) why not have it for rays

For motoros you will not have any trouble with just about any kind of sand. silca or non silica.

I have it in with my stingrays (motoros) and they are fine

It's made of glass and can be abrasive. For Rays, it pretty much turns their disc red and kills them pretty quick.. Some tend to tolerate it from what I've heard, but not worth risking it.

a resl fine silica sand would be ok but ill stick barebottom...
