Has anyone had any problems with using those silcone rock back grounds on there acrylic aquarium, or the silicone 3D type. I heard that the acrylic tanks can have reaction due to the backgrounds being petroleum based:confused::confused:. Anyone else heard or seen any such thing.

Never had an issue with my 3d background on my acrylic tank. It's glued on with ge silicone (the non anti fungal kind that's aquarium safe), and it's a DIY stryofoam one, so it would pop off if the silicone wasn't holding it on well.

From all of my reading on silicone bonding with acrylic, it seems like it bonds, but just doesn't bond as well as silicone does with glass. So I wouldn't glue a silicone tank together with it, but glueing a background on shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the input!
