Silica in Pool Filter Sand

Does all pool filter sand have silica in it. I am changing my substrate today. And I dont want to put the wrong thing in it. I have heard mixed reviews on sand with silica in it. Any help is appreciated.

A ton of people use pool filter sand including me and I've never had a problem. Its super clean too so its great

Does it all have silica in it. Or is silica not a problem

It should be labled on the bag. If it is silica, just use common sense. When I use it I wear a paper dust mask and safety glasses (goggle type), and gloves.

Inhaling silica dust is bad for people, rinsed silica sand is safe for fishies

silica sand is the best almost no kick up at all

Just make sure and stir it up 1 or 2 times a week or you will get anaerobic spots. I had it for a while but now prefer a darker substrate

Or better yet get a Motoro to kick it up for you
Silica sand and moon lighting can keep me in a daze for hours

Also, silica is not the same thing as silicates...
