Silica sand?

There's been so many sand debates I can't keep them straight. IS Silica pool filter sand allright to use for rays???



Feels soft, looks great..... Can I use it?

i think so...i had some other larger grain silica sand that was a bad deal...

my 300gal tubs have pool filter sand (100% quarts)= silica no problems

I could swear that I've read on here not to use any sand containing silica.
I bought 3 M colorquartz.

read the label on the 3m color quartz..... it has silica in it...... I used the same thing 3m color quartz and it worked great for me, just make sure its cleaned and your intakes are high enough off the ground

so with the 3m stuff, there is no sand sticking to the rays.
also is your guys sand s grade or t grade?

Mine is T grade, doesnt stick to the rays at all

Finally starting the lighting tonight. Will start rinsing sand tomorrow unless I get some logical argument......
