Hi,

I’m using GE All Purpose Silicon to plug up
drain holes in nursery plastic pots.

I let it cure 24 hrs. I filled it with water and no initial leaks. What concerns me I can peel the silicon right off the plastic.

So what keeps it from leaking few day or months down the road? They will be outside.

I’m using silicon since it’s supposed to be safe for liquid plant nutrients.

I know Marineweld would probably bond better but I’m concerned it might leach out.

the plastic type would be HDPE or polypropylene (PE) so not much will adhere. You could use a second pot inside, slightly swivelled and a soldier iron to heat seal (plastic weld) the holes shut but it's much easier to buy a cheap black plastic bucket.
