what is the best brand of silicon to use when repairing a tank? all the ones i saw at my local hardware store is not recommended for aquarium use, any ideas?

GE brand silicone 1
make sure it is silicone 1
it is the exact samething all glass uses to make there tanks

you can buy aquarium silicone for 10 12 bucks a tube or use the ge silicone for 2-3 bucks a tube.
Type 1 releases acetic acid while curing, very bad for your lungs.type 2 releases ammonia also not good but less toxic. In either case do all your siliconing outdoors and allow a week to cure.the type 1 is slightly stronger. When buying use 100%silicone window and door.Make sure it says nothing about mildew resistant,These contain toxic substances to kill the mildew. The kitchen and bath silicone says 100%silicone but has toxic compounds in it,how it can be 100% silicone but contain other substances I dont really understand.
Ive used ge type 1 and 2 window and door silicone and had no problems.

find one that is ok to come in contact with food prep surfaces.
