Noticed this on one side of my 125 gallon tank. Does this mean the silicon is failing? Is this a big concern for potential water leak or big damage? The tank was bought used and it’s in very good shape and clean. I have had it set up for couple months now and so far no issues. But I didn’t pay attention when I set it up so don’t know if it was like this when I bought it or there has been something going on. Also, if this is going to cause leak, it’s going to be a dripping leak first or it will suddenly explode due to the water pressure? Any inputs would be highly appreciated! Thanks

That looks, IMHO, like simple damage and wear to the internal bead of silicone that is applied as a sort of insurance policy against leaks, and to "clean up" the look of the tank during assembly. The adhesive seam, where the one pane of glass butts up against another and is adhered to it by silicone, looks absolutely perfect. This is just a minor cosmetic wart, nothing more; not structural.

Fixing it would involve emptying and drying the tank, laboriously scraping/removing that entire bead from all the interior seams while being careful not to damage the sealing surface by slipping the razor blade between the panes of glass, cleaning the glass absolutely perfectly and then reapplying a new interior bead and smoothing it out....or, in other words, way...way...WAY more trouble than it's worth.

Assuming that the tank is on a proper stand...flat, level support...relax, you're fine. :)

I had a bit of silicone concern on my old 180. I simply took a close up snap shot with my phone of the "problem" area and then every couple of weeks for the first couple of months I'd compare the photo with the current situation for reference.

I had that 180 for a few years and the problem area never changed from my original photo. So, for me, it's a +3 with the other guys.
