I recently bought a new 150 gallon Deep Blue tall tank with black silicone. When I took it home and removed the cardboard from the corners, I noticed that the top corner (side) of the tank has the silicone missing. You can see from the photo where it's missing, the top 3 inches under the trim. Is this for esthetic purposes only or should I be concerned? I don't want to exchange this unless I have to, as it's very heavy.

Hard to tell from pics but is it missing between the glass? My 57 rimless is from deep blue professional and in a similar spot there is a blemish in the silicone, but it is still where its important which is between the glass. I think the mark on my tank is from how they held the glass together

It's not missing from between the glass. It looks like they ran a strip of silicone down the entire side to cover the seam, and at the very top it peeled off. So I can feel the edge of the glass where it's missing. I would think it has no effect, but I have never noticed this on other tanks and of course I want my new tank to be perfect!

a good built tank should not have silicon seen outside of the tank. Most of people that have many years of experience on making custom tank in Asia don't let the silicon slip out of the glass like that when they seal the glasses together from the inside. It is no big deal for the silicon to be seen outside of the tank, just make it look no as good.
In your situation I think you're saying that the silicon slip out side on the seal from the bottom to that 3'' from the trim? If there is silicon seal inside of that part, it should be fine.

The deep blue tanks are cheaper in price for a reason. Do a google search and get some opinions of them. Read their tank warranty.

At this point I already bought the tank...but I will keep this in mind when I upgrade another tank.

As far as my question, it doesn't appear to be a problem based on your responses so far and my unprofessional inspection of the tank. Let me know if you have any further opinions, I really appreciate your feedback, just want to be sure before I move forward. Tired of seeing it in my hallway, hope to get it into place sometime soon.
