Hi guys quick question. I made a trash can filter and I can't seem to get the silicone to seal. Its fine untill I move the hose then the seal breaks. Can anyone recommend what type to use?

Is there some sort of fitting such as a male/female adapter that I can put the female on the inside of the barrel with maybe a washer and tighten the male in through the outside and put sealant around that. This would prevent so much movement from the hose. I tried looking at home depot but I can spend hrs in the plumbing section and still leave empty handed.

A bulkhead fitting is all that comes to mind and then you can use adapters to change the connection to what you need. I have done many hours of searching at home depot and have never found one you may have to look online, I was lucky that one of my local fish shops carry them.

if you have a farm store around they have what they call banjo connectors or whatever, they use them in livestock watering

Google for "DIY bulkheads" and you will find a number of examples that will show the parts you need to get at a Lowes or Home Depot. I can usually find what I need at these places other than I often cant find the specific size gasket I want. They sell rubber gasket material in like 8x8 inch sheets though and I cut out my own.

Can also use a shower drain.
