I'm building a small aquaponics system. I accidentally used GE 2 Kitchen and bath to seal leaks. Can covering the silicone with aquarium use silicone make it not be able to leach chemicals into the water?

I've seen accounts of people doing this and being safe. However if it does not work you could lose fish and have to cut it all out and reseal. For the fishes sake I'd reseal

I made the mistake of using GE2 once and the fish were fine but the tank began to leak after a coulple of weeks.
I think it would be worth your time to reseal with GE1.
Even if it doesnt leach anything into your water the tank may start to leak over time.

be safe and order a tube of RTV silicone, do it right the first time with adhesive made for applications like this.

New razor blades and many passes you can tell when it's all gone

if there is nothing in the tank use acetone. Rinse well before putting anything back in

I'm not sure but I've head several of the dap products are safe but if you are going to home Depot just get the ge1 it comes in white as well will be cheaper and just as good
