I bought a used tank, and after getting it home, I noticed that silicone had been added by the previous owner. I fear that they may have used the kind with anti mildew chemicals. Has anyone had a problem with silicone poisoning fish? Should I try to dig it all out and replace it with the aquarium safe kind? Or is this going to be a reptile only tank??

There has been people who have used the wrong one and it was fine. Search some threads. IMO I would reseal it.

Be VERY careful..............If it is that mildew resistant stuff scrape it all off and re-seal the tank.

I used that stuff once for a repair. It was all I could get my hands on over a long weekend and I needed to do an urgent repair, it wiped out all of my fish!!!
