im planning on making stuff for my aquarium out of silicone but the thing of silicone i have says not for aquariums.
my dad says they all say that, but he's kind of a zipper head so im coming here to ask you guys...

info:
Silicone II*
100% Silicone Sealant
Gutter and Flashing
Not for: Surfaces exceeding 400 F, Conditions where FDA compliance is necessary, aquariums.

They do all say that because the company's don't want to go through the testing required, it's too expensive. Make sure you get a plain silicone with no fungicides or mildewcides (however that's spelled). The brand I've used hundreds of times is DAP 100% silicone rubber sealant 'clear'. It's in a blue tube and has a yellow stripe going around the tube that says "gutters molding windos doors siding vents". I get it at Ace Hardware for about $6/tube.
Edit: Meant to say that I 'think' the kind you've got is the right kind. I can't ever remember if it's I or II that we're supposed to use for fish. So I always just end up getting the DAP.

Silicone 1 window and door is what I always use.II will work has slightly less bond strength.Just be sure it doesnt say bioseal or mildew resistant.
