if i put silicone on my tank but in a area water is not touching is it ok to have a fish in the water or will it kill the fish?

The silicon you should be using is acetic cure which is just vinegar. So even if the water were to touch it, your fish will be okay. The release of acetic acid allows the silicon to cure.

Hmm. I dunno.
If the level of the tank is below the silicone and it is giving off acetic acid AND you are running filtration that is pouring water back into the tank (breaking the surface and aerating the water) then no, I wouldnt do it. I'm not keen on the idea that acetic fumes are mixing with the air for my fish.

Put a fan on it and your go to go.

Are you just doing a repair?
