Ok so we have 2 flowerhorns that get sick every week. They get white fuzzy looking spots all over their bodies. I don't think it's ich because the spots look a little bigger than what ich usually does. Any way the weird part is that they get this every week. Usually on Fridays. Water changes of 20-30% are always done on Sunday and then the flowerhorns are completely fine by Monday night. Then they get it again on Thursday for Friday. This has happened every single week for the past 2 months. Ammonia and Nitrites both test zero. Nitrate tests 30ppm before water changes. Also there are several other tankmates in there but the flowerhorns are the only only ones affected. Sooo...I'm confused...any thoughts?

If something is fouling your water in 1 week it sounds like a overstocking issue. Try doing 2 water changes a week or 50% instead of 20-30%.

otherwise I need to know

What kind of filter are you using?
What are the tankmates?
How large is the tank?
What are you feeding them?

The tank is 180 gallon. The filter is a well seasoned fx5. Tank inhabitants include: 2 Veil-tailed oscars, 2 flowerhorns, 1 tiger shovel nose, 1 redtailed cat, and 1 oxydoras niger. The oscars are and flowerhorns share a medium handful of hikari cichlid gold. The oxydoras eats massivoure. and the other 2 kitties eat whatever fish is on sale at the market. Usually tillapia fillet.

Recently we have been underfeeding them slightly because I had originally thought that was the problem but no change after a few weeks of that. If tested the water before and after water changes and both read zero for ammonia and nitrite and nitrate testing well within acceptable range before and after water changes.

pics would help, but i guess its the raw fillet fish you feed your kitties affect your flowerhorns, you can try to put them in a different tank, feed them just pellets and see if they still get sick on fridays.

Ok here they are just in time for Fuzzy Fish Fridays. The cat fish haven't been fed yet this week so no tilaipia has been in the tank. The test kits read zeros for ammonia and nitrite. Nitrate at 30ppm
