Im researching this aspect of the hobby, (aqua scaping) and came across a review of Eco Complete last night on a different web site. Sorry, i dont remember which one. One person claimed that after using Eco Complete that his black silicon on two different tanks turned brown and actually caused the silicon to dry out. I know this sounds crazy, but i thought i should ask. One tank was a Perfecto and the other was an Aqueon.

Another point that kept comming up, is that Eco Complete is great for 6 months to a year. At that time most people need to replace it with fresh material, and in 3 years it turns to mud. Any opinions?

I dont know about all the other things, but I have never had problem with Eco Complete.

All substrate needs to be replaced in planted tanks sooner or later.

If you are serious about the hobby, you will be using root-tabs anyways.

I have had mine for 3 years, it has maintained its structure, and plants are doing just fine.
