Ok here goes. I bought a 12', 540 last fall and have been setting it up in my basement ever since. I initially planned on doing mostly cichla with a silver aro. I purchased a ~3" silver a couple months back. He's doing great in a growout 40 breeder, crushes any pellet that comes his way and is probably 6" or a bit bigger.

The challenge is the 540 is cycled and ready but I've shifted my interest to more of a SA community tank. I have a shoal of 2" wide bar silver dollars in growout and am ordering a bunch of severums, geos etc in 2"-3.5" sizes from Jeff Rapps next week.

The aro is ready to go in but will he eat this new stock?

I doubt it, he should fit in well. At 6" they are pretty thin still so as long as you're feeding him well I'd say it should be fine. I have a 12" black aro with fish as small as 2.5" and he doesn't even look at them. Your tank will look great.
